1. Ekiti Enterprise Challenge.  

(EEC 2020) is a Social Impact Driven Community based enterprise Pitch competition designed to be an annual event for Brilliant Creative, Gifted, Talented and innovative entrepreneurs who resides and are established in Ekiti Communities in Nigeria, with business ideas which have potential to create decent work and sustainable jobs, grow exponentially and scale beyond Ekiti local Market to a National and Global Market.

The vision and impact deliverable of Ekiti Enterprise Challenge is to identify, discover, support and mentor creative and innovative young Ekiti entrepreneurs with business ideas that have potential to grow exponentially beyond Ekiti Local Market and scale up their market reach. The Ekiti Enterprise Challenge planned to hold during the UN Global Entrepreneurship Week between November 16 – 22, 2020.

WHY EKITI ENTERPRISE CHALLENGE?

Ekiti Enterprise Challenge is part of our  commitment in giving back to the society by investing in young entrepreneur. It is our expectation that Ekiti Enterprise Challenge will help in restoring Ekiti Values by raising the next generation of Ekiti young entrepreneur who will make Ekiti Great again by establishing sustainable businesses that have potential to create  decent jobs and economic growth which are inline with The United Nations Sustainable Development  Goals 1, 8, 9,11 & 17

HOW WILL EEC 2020 HOLD?

Call for application for Ekiti Enterprise Challenge  2020  will commence on 1st of September 2020 and Close on 30th September 2020. In October 2020 after the close of applications, a team of independent business development consultants will review the applications and shortlist successful young entrepreneurs that will be invited to attend a 5 Days Enterprise Development Bootcamp, where they will be groomed and prepared for the final stage which will be assessed by a panel of Judges who will select the winners for the Ekiti Enterprise Challenge 2020.

PRIZES

The winning enterprise will receive a Grant Prize of One Million Naira (N1, 000,000) while 3 runner ups will awarded consolation Prizes of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000), Three Hundred Thousand Naira (N300,000) and Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000) respectively.

WHO CAN APPLY

  • Business Established & Resident in Ekiti State. Intending participants must have business established and resident in any of the communities in Ekiti State.
  • Applicant Between 18-35 Years Age Bracket.EEC is open to Young Entrepreneurs residents in Ekiti State who fall within the 18 to 35 year age bracket.
  • Business Must Have passed through ideation stage.Business idea passed through ideation stage, be at least 12 months old, and already generating revenue.
  • Business Have Potential For Exponential Growth.Must have innovative product & services with sustainable business model that has potential to grow exponentially and scale beyond local market to national & global market.
  • Business registered with CAC & have corporate bank account.Business Must have been registered with CAC must have a corporate bank account with a corporate Governance Structure.

2. AfriTech XYZ Innovation Prize

We’re on the lookout for Africa’s best early-stage tech innovations, and we’re putting our money where our mouth is!

Stage 1 – we want to know the headline about your organisation. From this information, we’ll select a shortlist to provide more information about your organisation. Deadline September 30th 2020

Stage 2 – we’ll ask for more information about your organisation, your team and your development as a business so far. From this information we will shortlist those that will pitch LIVE to a global audience.

The winner will receive £1000 cash and the finalists will receive $3,000 in Google Cloud Credits and $10,000 in AWS credits.


Criteria

  • Up to 5 years active
  • Must be incorporated
  • Majority of your team schooled in Africa
  • Must have at least 1 woman in your senior leadership team
  • Must not have received more than £50K investment
  • Must have a working prototype

3. Green Tech Program
 

We are looking for ambitious students, scientists and entrepreneurs who are passionate about green technology and driven in creativity. The three months startup program matches teams together from all over the world to provide solutions in greentech. We equip them with necessary skills to create values ready to use in the market and to build long-term sustainable business.

The program will be online for 13 weeks and finalists will join us onsite in Barcelona, Spain for a week in 2021.

We offer a unique set of knowledge to turn ideas into businesses. How we proceed:

  • Ideation and startup formation

  • Team building through matchmaking tools

  • Minimum Viable Product (MVP) development

  • Research, test and market validation

  • Training and workshop for startups

    4. Pitch Friday.

    @iBizAfrica, welcomes anyone with an interesting business idea/innovation to come and pitch their idea at our Pitch Friday. Innovators get 5 minutes to present their ideas in an elevator pitch format to a closed audience of business mentors, entrepreneurs & investors.  Join us on the last Friday of every month from 2.00pm to 4.30pm. Once selected, you will get an opportunity to join our 3 month Open Innovation Programme as well as enjoy the resources of the incubator and possibly secure financial and business advisory services from @iBizAfrica.

    5. New Economy Booster

    Come shape the post-COVID-19 economic recovery of Ghana or Nigeria. The New Economy Booster program is a chance to do so!

    Our goal is to boost high potential solutions or ventures that are already in the market or ready to go-to-market and are creating a positive impact on challenges faced by key sectors in the Ghanaian and Nigerian economies.

    This is an opportunity to bring ventures to the next level, advance business skills, receive expert advice, and nourish potential investor relationships. This program has been created by Impact Hub in partnership with the lab of tomorrow and with the support of The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).


    THE PROGRAM

    The New Economy Booster is designed to support impact-driven entrepreneurs with both advanced and early-stage ventures, startups, non-profit organizations or initiatives based in Ghana and Nigeria that are contributing to the country’s post-pandemic economic recovery.

    We want to boost solutions or ventures in sectors that have been affected by COVID-19, particularly those that are at risk of or have experienced job losses.

    In our seven-month tailor-made online program, successful candidates will get a range of customized content and resources to develop and grow their business and network while being guided by a team of local and global experts.

    Those selected to be part of the New Economy Booster will get a chance to:

  • Get business coaching
  • Receive senior expert advisory and consulting services
  • Meet potential investors and have facilitated introductions to fundraising opportunities
  • Access personal development and technical skills training
  • Get peer support from other participants
  • Access partnership building opportunities
  • Have an expert in residence helping the project develop
  • Work and meet at an Impact Hub space (once lockdown restrictions get lifted)

PROGRAM PHASES

Phase 1: Application | 1-month
We will source 500 innovative solutions, 250 per country, that address the challenges we have identified. All 500 will receive: Access to our online global community via our Global Connect Membership.

Phase 2: Incubation | 2 months
We will select the top 100 ventures, 50 per country to incubate. All 100 will receive: 5 hours of coaching, access to resources and connections and an online community to network with that will be tailored just for you.

Phase 3: Acceleration | 4 months
We will select the top 30 ventures, 15 per country to accelerate. All 30 will receive: Project management and coordination guidance, a tailored diagnostic and development plan and access to a support network to help grow your business.

The program stages will run to a non-linear schedule starting on August 17th, 2020 and running until February 2021.

Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and high potential participants will be fast-tracked to the acceleration phase.


CRITERIA

To apply fill out the online form and successful applicants will be chosen by Impact Hub and partner representatives based on the following criteria:

Impact – The potential recovery of the Post-COVID-19 economy in Ghana and/or Nigeria

Scalability – The proposed solution has the potential to create local employment opportunities

Feasibility – The proposed solution is technically and economically feasible

Team – Commitment of the project team to follow through and collaborate


WHO SHOULD APPLY

Impact-driven entrepreneurs with both advanced and early-stage ventures, high-potential startups, non-profit organizations and initiatives based in Ghana or Nigeria that:

  • Identify key economic recovery challenges and opportunities in their local community
  • Have the potential to generate a great social or environmental impact
  • Are preventing job loss or generating new employment opportunities in industries that are suffering or are at risk of suffering
  • Are scalable and are making some revenue or are projected to make some revenue in the near future
  • Are already in the market or ready to go-to-market

We want to focus on projects that are addressing challenges in the following industries:
